Little Naches River, Bed 1 Thundereggs
A fairly unfamiliar and unusual location on a hill above the Little Naches River, northwest of Yakima and in the Wenatchee National Forest. These eggs have a wonderfully soft colour scheme with predominantly green matrix and quiet grey agate. They can also display evidence of a lot of geological activity during their formation, featuring many 're-healed' breakages and natural cracks. There is a very simple ratio here though between size and cracking - the larger the stone, the more cracks they have. The tiniest baby naches 'thundernuts' can be almost pristine, but as a general rule it is very rare to find a big stone without a cobwebbing of cracks. They have a subtle beauty all their own, say I - cracks and all.
